Boston, MA, Feb. 15, 2014 – Spike Aerospace Inc., designers of the Spike S-512 Quiet Supersonic Jet, have just announced that the S-512 will feature an exclusive passenger cabin outfitted with full-length panoramic displays instead of conventional windows.
This new supersonic jet will offer revolutionary windowless cabin design, eliminating cumbersome shades and glaring sun while adding considerable strength and quiet to the S-512’s luxurious interior. Instead of traditional porthole windows, the S-512’s interior will be adorned with thin, high-definition display screens embedded into the walls. Cameras surrounding the entire aircraft will allow breathtaking panoramic views to be displayed on the cabin screens. Passengers will also be able to dim the screens to catch some sleep or change their view to any other they choose, including movies, slideshows, or the displays of their laptop comupters.
“Fuselage walls are complex structures made even more complicated by the additional structures needed to support cabin windows. Eliminating the windows allows us to simply the fuselage design, reduce the parts count, and lower manufacturing costs. It also results in a smoother exterior skin, which reduces the aircraft’s drag – resulting in increased fuel efficiency,” says Vik Kachoria, President of Spike Aerospace.
Micro
-cameras, flat panel displays, video controllers, and associated software have all advanced to a stage that allows Spike Aerospace to do away with fuselage-complicating windows.
The S-512’s windowless cabin is just one more innovation the company is incorporating into the aircraft. The supersonic jet design already includes the latest flight technologies, including composite materials, advanced avionics, and a next-generation propulsion system.
