Spike Aerospace is seeking a highly experienced and talented Senior Aerodynamics Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer, you’ll provide technical leadership and expertise in the development of our next-generation supersonic civilian jet, ensuring that our aircraft meets the highest standards of performance, safety, and efficiency.
Job Description:
As a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer at Spike Aerospace, you’ll be a key member of our engineering leadership team, responsible for overseeing and guiding the aerodynamic design and analysis of our supersonic aircraft. Your technical expertise and leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the successful development of our innovative aircraft.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize empirical methods, lower-order tools, Computational Fluid Dynamics techniques and optimization methods to lead aircraft design and analyze aerodynamic performance.
- Provide support for wind tunnel testing and contribute to design optimization.
- Participate in preliminary design tasks, including basic aircraft sizing.
- Offer technical leadership and guidance to the aircraft design team.
- Build, mentor, and support a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Collaborate with other engineering departments and contribute to various projects as needed.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in aerodynamics and related fields.
- Suggest innovations to improve the quality and effectiveness of our products.
Requirements:
- Possess a deep understanding of fixed-wing aerodynamics, propulsion, and performance principles.
- Have extensive experience with lower-order aerodynamic tools, CFD analysis, airframe aerodynamic design, and optimization methods.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting aerodynamic analysis of supersonic aircraft.
- Have experience with wind tunnel testing and analysis.
- Possess a strong understanding of airplane flight characteristics and performance analysis methods.
- Have experience with Part 25 certification projects for transport category airplanes.
- Be proficient in Python, MATLAB, or FORTRAN programming.
- Have experience using Star-CCM+, CFD++, Ansys Fluent or FUN3D.
- Hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in aerospace engineering.
- Have at least 10 years of engineering experience applying the specified skills.
- Must be a US Citizen or a permanent resident.
