Spike Aerospace is seeking a talented and passionate CFD Engineer to join our team. As a CFD Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in the development of our next-generation supersonic civilian jet by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to analyze and optimize aerodynamic performance.
Job Description:
As a CFD Engineer at Spike Aerospace, you’ll be a key member of our engineering team, responsible for conducting advanced CFD simulations to understand and improve the aerodynamic behavior of our supersonic aircraft. Your work will directly contribute to the design and development of innovative solutions for challenges related to supersonic flight.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute complex CFD simulations to analyze the aerodynamic performance of various aircraft components, including airframes, wings, control surfaces, and inlets/nozzles.
- Apply advanced CFD techniques, such as turbulence modeling, grid generation, and solver selection, to accurately predict flow characteristics and aerodynamic loads.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to interpret simulation results and provide insights into design improvements.
- Conduct sensitivity studies to evaluate the impact of design changes on aerodynamic performance and identify optimal configurations.
- Assist in the development and validation of CFD models against experimental data.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in CFD technology and research, continuously improving your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on computational fluid dynamics.
- Must be a US citizen or a permanent resident.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience working as a CFD Engineer in the aerospace industry or a related field.
- Proven proficiency in CFD software packages (ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, CFD++ FUN3D, etc.).
- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics principles and aerodynamic theory.
- Experience with grid generation techniques and meshing tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus points for:
- Experience with high-speed flow simulations (supersonic/hypersonic).
- Knowledge of computational aeroacoustics (CAA) techniques.
- Experience with parallel computing and high-performance computing (HPC).
