Spike Aerospace is leading the charge in transforming air travel with the development of a next-generation supersonic civilian jet. We’re searching for a talented and passionate CAD Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll play a vital role in bringing our innovative designs to life, using your expertise to create detailed and accurate 2D and 3D models that will reintroduce supersonic flight.
Job Description:
As a CAD Engineer at Spike Aerospace, you’ll be a key contributor to our design process. You’ll work closely with engineers, designers and other team members to translate concepts into precise technical drawings, ensuring our supersonic jet meets the highest standards of performance and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize advanced CAD software (CATIA, NX etc.) to create and maintain complex 2D and 3D models of aircraft components and assemblies.
- Develop detailed and accurate technical drawings, including assembly drawings, detail drawings, and part models, following industry standards and established design specifications.
- Participate in design reviews, providing technical expertise and feedback to improve overall functionality and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to interpret engineering concepts and translate them into clear and concise CAD models.
- Conduct engineering analyses to validate designs and ensure they meet performance and safety requirements.
- Participate in the creation and maintenance of design documentation, including parts lists, bills of materials, and assembly instructions.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest CAD technologies and best practices, continuously improving your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
- Must be a US citizen or a permanent resident.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience working as a CAD Engineer with a focus on complex mechanical assemblies.
- Proven proficiency in advanced CAD software (CATIA, NX, etc.).
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus points for:
- Experience in the aerospace industry.
- Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
- Experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques.
